You’ve probably been to the website About.com for one reason or another.  Unless you’ve been trapped under a log, you know that what the website does is employ the best experts around to write articles, posts, and generally provide outstanding and reliable content about a variety of topics.

I follow the blog on About written by Elizabeth Scott, their guide to Stress Management.  Lately, she has had some incredibly insightful and valuable posts about her thoughts on optimism and the power of gratitude, so I contacts her and managed to talk her into doing an interview I could share with everyone.

Elizabeth has spent several years conducting individual therapy and couples counseling, has facilitated Stress Management workshops, is a member of Mensa, has been interviewed on national television and radio, and has been About.com guide to Stress Management for the last thirteen years (all while being a devoted wife and mother to two).

Very helpful interview.

Let me reinforce Elizabeth’s recommendation to start a gratitude journal – it’s the single best thing most people can do to improve their world view.

A few points: it really on ly needs to be 3 things a day (research has shown that 3 actually works better than 10)

Also, it’s a good practice to write down why you think the things you’re grateful for happened. It helps develop a positive explanatory style.
